Descriptions
Collaborative rich-text descriptions with markdown, images, bookmark cards, embeds and mentions.
A todo’s description is a collaborative document: edits from several people — or a person and an agent — merge in real time instead of overwriting each other. Agents write and read it as markdown through the CLI and MCP server; you see the same text rendered in the editor, the hover preview and the todo page.
Formatting
Descriptions are markdown underneath. Type / for the block menu — headings, bulleted,
numbered and check lists, code blocks, blockquotes, dividers and images — and select text
for the formatting toolbar.
Images
Paste, drop or pick an image and it uploads while a progress ring fills on the placeholder. Large photos are compressed in the browser first. Select an image to resize it from the corner handle (double-click restores the natural size), align it left, center or right, and give it a caption. Images are private to the workspace: only members can load them.
Pasting links
Pasting a URL opens a small chooser at the caret:
- URL keeps the plain link
- Mention — for a link to a todo in this workspace — turns it into a mention labelled with the todo’s identifier and title
- Bookmark swaps the link for a card with the page’s title, favicon, description and image
- Embed — for YouTube, Vimeo, Loom and Figma links — inserts a card that loads the player when a reader clicks it
Dismissing the chooser keeps the pasted link, so nothing is lost to the menu.
Where else descriptions appear
The composer opens a description row on ⇧ Enter; pasting a URL into an empty title there starts the description with a bookmark card. The hover preview beside a list mounts the same live editor as the todo page, so a quick correction never needs a navigation. Descriptions are the one part of a todo that merges rather than last-write-wins — see offline & sync.
